I trained as a Doula in the UK with Nurturing Birth, in 2014 and witness babies being born in varied contexts, choices and situations. It was in the stark contrast between birth options available to UK and Portuguese women that I felt compelled to found the Portuguese Birthrights Association, where I work as a volunteer to make human rights in pregnancy and birth a reality in Portugal. I really believe everyone has the right to an empowered and positive birth experience. And that there is more than one "right" way to have a baby. What you need is information, and to know how your body works.
